Day 1 Welcome and Orientation
Arrival and/or pick up in Accra, Ghana. We’ll pick you up from the airport or your hotel and transfer you to our hotel. Welcome drink and induction. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Accra. Meals: D
Day 2 Tour of Accra City
Breakfast at hotel, then depart for a sightseeing city tour of Accra. We will drive through the main streets of Accra. You will see the downtown areas and the famous Makola market. You will also see Ghana’s Independence Square and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Museum. After lunch, we’ll visit the Arts Center where you will have a chance to practice your bargaining skills to buy artifacts made from Ghana and other parts of Africa. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Accra. Meals: B, D
Day 3 Cape Coast and Elmina
We will depart for Cape Coast and Elmina after breakfast. On the way, we shall stop at Mankessim to see the Posuban Shrine. The Cape Coast Castle was built by Swedes in 1653. The Cape Coast Castle is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Monument. We will also visit the St. Georges Castle in Elmina. This castle, also known as Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in the late 15th Century. Meals: B, D
Day 4 Kakum National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, we will forge ahead to Kakum National Park. This lovely rainforest reserve, spanning over 360km2. The most popular attraction is the canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges extending 320m, hanging 30m (100 feet) above the forest floor. We will stop by to see the crocodiles at Hans Botel. Overnight in Cape Coast. Meals: B, D
Day 5 Tour of Kumasi City
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we’ll check out, bound for to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom. We’ll drive through the city – viewing many monuments of great historical interest. After lunch, we tour the Manhyia Palace – which is the official palace of the King of the Ashantis. We will also visit the National Cultural Center in Kumasi. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Kumasi. Meals: B, D
Day 6 Craft Villages of Ashanti
Breakfast at hotel, then depart to visit the craft villages of Ashanti. You will see Ashanti craftsmen carving wood and making traditional textiles, one of which is the Adinkra. You also go to the famous village called Bonwire to see how Kente, a world-famous fabric which originates from Ghana is woven. You can buy crafts and textiles directly from the makers. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Kumasi. Meals: B, D
Day 7 Back to Accra
After breakfast at hotel, we’ll drive back to Accra. Lunch at a Ghanaian restaurant where you can sample various local dishes. Rest of the day at leisure at your hotel. Meals: B, D
Day 8 Farewells and Good-byes
This is the final day of the tour. After breakfast, you can spend the rest of the day packing or doing last minute shopping. Check out of hotel and transfer to the Accra airport for those flying out that day. End of Tour.
